43,900 miles from new.
Finished in a most elegant colour combination of racing green with sandstone hide piped in spruce with spruce top roll, sandstone knee roll, sandstone headlining, spruce/walnut sports steering wheel and a sandstone gear shifter. Finished with a walnut facia, centre console and door cappings, and fitted with spruce lambswool over rugs over spruce carpets piped in sandstone.
Supplied new by Jack Barclay Ltd of London to a Newspaper Group CEO and fitted with the number plate HL1. Records indicate that he kept the car for less than a year and the car was sold by Jack Barclay again to a local London gentleman, once again a CEO of a large company. This owner retained the car for a much longer period, entrusting servicing to Jack Barclay, until a relocation to Norwich from which point local main dealer Michael Powles Ltd took over servicing duties.
In April 2012 the car was purchased by the owner of one the most prominent and well known car collections in the UK, where it remained until it was sold to the last owner in July 2020. This most recent owner was someone who chose to use his car regularly. It appears he was a member of the Lancashire Automobile Club and took part in their ‘drive it day’ classic car runs.
Since arriving here at Avantgarde we have had a 6,000 mile service and other various work carried out by renowned RR & Bentley specialist DEW. This work included attention to the brakes including new brake pads all round, new belts, attention to the steering including a steering rack overhaul and PAS pump hose etc.
The car is supplied with all handbooks, including service booklet and continuation – yes it has only done 43,000 miles but the second owner was fastidious! The history file includes factory build sheets, warranty records as well as service invoices.
The Continental T is essentially a shortened wheelbase edition of the Continental R with a more powerful engine and flared wheel arches. They are a very rare motorcar indeed with records indicating that only 321 model were made with only 104 being right hand drive.
